Cat Flap Installation in Ras Al Khaimah

Cat Flap Installation in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah gives cats room to roam. Villas in Al Hamra Village and Mina Al Arab open onto gardens and quiet streets, and the emirate’s pace suits an animal that likes to patrol. A cat flap lets the cat use that space freely while the house stays sealed against the heat.

We install cat flaps across Ras Al Khaimah into glass doors, sliding doors, aluminium panels, windows and double-glazed units. Every job uses a new tempered glass panel fabricated for the flap. Your existing glass is never cut, and the original panel stays with you. Here is how to choose the flap and what the installation involves.

Cat Flaps in RAK Villas

Al Hamra Village is our most frequent stop in the emirate. The villas there have patio doors and garden access that suit cat flaps perfectly. The cat moves between the cooled interior and the garden at will, and the flap sits in a new glass panel that matches the door. Mina Al Arab runs close behind, with waterfront villas where cats enjoy terraces and small gardens.

Julphar and Al Dhait have a mix of villas and low-rise apartments. In the villas, the flap usually goes into the rear patio door. In the apartments, it goes into the balcony sliding door or a window, giving the cat outdoor time without an open door. The principle is the same everywhere. The cat gets freedom, the air conditioning stays inside.

Villa life in RAK comes with visiting cats. The emirate has active community cat populations, and a garden that suits your cat suits the neighbourhood toms too. This is the main reason microchip flaps outsell manual flaps in the villa communities. The flap reads your cat’s implanted chip and stays locked for every other animal.

Choosing Between Manual and Microchip

Manual flaps are simple and reliable. They swing freely for any animal that pushes them. They suit apartments above ground level, where no other animal can reach the door, and homes where strays are genuinely not an issue. We fit them in regular and large sizes, and cats over 4.5 kilograms need the large size.

Microchip flaps add selective entry. The reader in the flap tunnel recognises your cat’s implanted microchip and unlocks only for that chip. If your cat is already chipped, which most UAE rescue adoptions are, programming takes minutes on installation day. If not, any vet in Ras Al Khaimah can implant a chip in a routine visit.

One flap serves a multi-cat household. The reader learns several chips, so two or three cats share one entrance. Foster homes use this constantly, and it means the door hardware never needs to change as the cats do.

A New Panel, Never a Cut Into Yours

We say this on every job because it is the question every customer asks. Your existing glass is never cut. Tempered glass cannot be cut after tempering, so the only correct method is a new panel. We measure your door, fabricate the new panel in the workshop with the flap opening cut before tempering, and swap it for your existing panel on installation day.

The swap is quick. The original panel lifts out, the new panel goes in, and the flap is secured and sealed. The frame is powder-coated aluminium matched to your door. Your original panel is handed back to you intact, stored flat until you need it. If you ever want the door restored, the original goes straight back in.

Double-glazed doors and windows get the same treatment with more preparation. The flap opening is cut into the panes before they are sealed into a unit, so the insulation is preserved. These panels take longer to fabricate, and we confirm the timeline at the measurement visit.

Glass Finishes and Colour Matching

RAK villa doors come in the usual range of finishes. We stock reflective glass in gray, green, brown and blue, plus transparent, and powder-coat the aluminium frame to sit with your existing door. We match as closely as the materials allow.

One honest note. Glass that has weathered in the UAE sun for years cannot be matched 100 percent by any new panel. A slight variation is normal and reads as a deliberate panel rather than a repair. We raise this before you order so the expectation is set correctly.

What Happens on Installation Day

The new panel arrives ready from the workshop. We remove your existing panel, fit the new one, secure the flap, and seal everything. The door or window is tested for normal operation. For sliding doors we check the interlock where the panels meet and fit a weather strip if the junction needs sealing against dust.

Then the cat gets its turn. Confident cats walk through within minutes. Cautious cats need the flap propped open for a day so they learn the route before dealing with the push. We show you the propping method, the cleaning routine, and how to adjust the settings on a microchip model. The visit is usually done within two hours.

Training Your Cat to Use the Flap

A new flap means nothing until the cat trusts it. The training that works is patient and food driven. Prop the flap fully open and let the cat walk through the open hole for a day or two, with treats placed on the far side. The cat learns that the opening leads somewhere good. Then lower the flap halfway so the cat brushes it with its head on the way through. Finally, let it close fully so the cat learns the push.

Never shove the cat through. A forced cat avoids the flap for weeks, while a cat that figures it out alone owns it for life. Timid rescues may need a week of the propped-open stage, and that is normal. Kittens usually charge through on the first day. Older cats take longer but get there, especially when the flap leads to a sunny garden they can already see through the glass.

FAQ

Which areas of Ras Al Khaimah do you cover?

We cover Al Hamra Village, Mina Al Arab, Julphar, Al Dhait and the surrounding areas. The measurement visit and installation work the same everywhere in the emirate.

How long does the installation take?

Most on-site visits are finished within two hours. The new glass panel is fabricated in advance, so the visit is a panel swap plus fitting and sealing the flap.

Will my existing glass be cut?

No. We never cut existing glass. We fabricate a new tempered panel with the flap opening cut before tempering, and you keep the original panel intact.

Can a cat flap go into a double-glazed window or door?

Yes. We build a new double-glazed unit with the flap opening cut before the panes are sealed. The insulation of the unit is preserved.

What size flap does my cat need?

Cats over 4.5 kilograms need the large flap. We stock regular and large manual flaps plus microchip flaps, and we check the size against your cat before ordering.

Will stray cats use the flap too?

A manual flap opens for any animal that pushes it. In villa areas with visiting strays, a microchip flap only opens for your cat’s registered chip and keeps the others out.
