The flap reads the microchip your vet implanted and unlocks for your registered cats only. Strange cats stay outside. Two sizes: regular for cats up to 4.5 kg, large for cats over 4.5 kg.

Up to 4.5 kg takes the regular flap (142 × 120 mm opening). Over 4.5 kg takes the large (178 × 170 mm opening). Between the two, always size up.

The regular microchip flap needs a 212 mm circular hole. We never cut your existing glass. The flap goes into a brand-new tempered panel, made to measure for your door, and your original glass is kept safe.

Which microchip cat flap models do you install?+
The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap, the Microchip Cat Flap Connect, and the DualScan, plus the PetSafe microchip cat flap. Every one reads your cat's implanted microchip, so only your registered cats can come in.
What is the difference between the regular and the large size?+
The regular flap opening is 142 × 120 mm and suits cats up to 4.5 kg. The large flap opening is 178 × 170 mm and suits cats over 4.5 kg. If your cat is over 4.5 kg, take the large. A flap that is slightly roomy beats one your cat has to squeeze through.
Will the flap read my cat's microchip?+
Yes, if your cat has a standard implanted microchip. The reader works with all common microchip formats. If your cat isn't chipped, an RFID collar tag does the same job.
What does DualScan do that the others don't?+
DualScan controls exit as well as entry, so you can keep a chosen cat indoors while the others come and go. It comes in the regular size only.
What does the Connect version add?+
The Connect links to the Sure Petcare app, so you can lock and unlock remotely, set curfews, and get notifications when your cat comes and goes. It comes in regular and large.
Can you fit a microchip flap in glass?+
Yes, that is most of our work. The regular flap needs a 212 mm circular hole in the glass. We fit it into a new tempered glass panel, so your existing glass is never cut.
How are they powered?+
Four AA batteries, typically lasting up to a year. A low-battery light warns you well before they run out, and the flap remembers your cats even with the batteries removed.
